TYPE: Reordering of Grade I listed medieval parish church

A Squared Architects were invited to develop a feasibility study for the reordering of the western bay of the nave and north and south aisles to create an area for flexible community-use. New works included the introduction of a gallery within the nave and a series of folding-sliding glazed screens enabling the ground floor to be subdivided into a series of interconnected spaces. A new staircase was proposed within the south aisle to access the gallery and a frameless, planar glazed screen was proposed within the tower arch to separate the gallery from the ringing chamber. The new works were designed to respect the ancient fabric and allow the original nave space to be 'read' on entering the church.
