These two new houses, on a wooded garden site in Thorpe, were designed for a private client. The houses have modern low impact forms and sit within the sloping landscape surrounded by many fine mature trees. The layout of the scheme was developed in order to minimise the impact on the landscape, which is a designated area of landscape value and green space adjacent to the conservation area. The houses incorporate ground source heating, photo voltaic panels and a highly insulated building envelope. One of the houses adopts an insulating concrete formwork method of construction which results in a building with excellent thermal mass and insulating qualities. Triple glazed windows were used throughout.
