This project, completed in the spring of 2015 involved the complete refurbishment of a large Georgian family home in Norwich's Golden triangle and the construction of a new single-storey extension measuring around 54m². The extension provides a new kitchen/breakfast room with an open vaulted roof and feature oak truss above. Adjacent to the kitchen is a pantry, boiler room and store room together with a large utility area which allows external access through a covered timber loggia. The pitched roof of the kitchen connects back to the dining/family area of the main house via a new projecting flat roof, beneath which are two sets of 4m long sliding/folding doors, which when folded back reveal a unique floating corner roof detail. These doors also provide a direct connection to the rear terrace and garden, enclosed in in its own private courtyard wall and featuring stone seating and integrated raised planting beds. The use of traditional materials such as cream render and dark grey slate tiles in conjunction with more contemporary features such as the aluminium folding doors and limestone flooring has resulted in a beautiful yet practical and highly livable family home.
